🎉 The official launch event for The Sofianer outdoor exhibition and special book will take place on 11 September 2023, Monday, at 18:00, at Crystal Garden, Sofia. During the event, the special award of the Bulgarian-American Credit Bank will be announced and presented to three of the participants in the project.
For the second year, The Sofianer organizes an open call and competition held in June-July 2023. A jury selects from among 127 proposals exactly 28 of the number of covers that you see collected in an exhibition. All illustrations are available online at sofianer.com
Twenty-eight Bulgarian artists, illustrators, photographers, graphic designers and architects reveal the face and spirit of Sofia through funny, insightful and heartfelt visual stories in the form of covers of the imaginary magazine The Sofianer. The iconic covers of the American magazine The New Yorker, well known worldwide for its classic visual layout and cartoons, became the inspiration for a global movement in which cities around the world created their own imaginative covers. Thus appeared The Parisianer, The Tokyoiter, Le Montrealer, The Brusseler, The Milaneser or The Shanghairen, igniting the imagination of local artists to present the appearance of their city in the classic example of The New Yorker.
The initiative is implemented by the Credo Bonum Foundation and the Multi Kulti Collective. The project is financed by the Municipality of Sofia, Culture program, and is implemented with the support of the Bulgarian-American Credit Bank and in partnership with the independent art and culture media VIZH!
